Mobile (AL) & Vietnamese Food

Yen Restaurant in Mobile (AL)
If you are traveling through Mobile and you are craving some good Vietnamese (and Chinese) food, you have to check out Yen Restaurant. It's worth getting off the highway a bit and you get to see a nice area of Mobile. On our drive from Texas to Florida, we like to stop over in Mobile as it's a little bit over the halfway mark. This time, while we ate in Mobile, we pressed on after dinner. This restaurant was awesome - good service, great food, decent pricing. I highly recommend it and would definitely eat there again. Mark and I enjoy using our phone apps to find good eating options - anything light. We just don't often do burger stops anymore. Hope you give Yen a try!

Fort Davis, Texas (West)

Ft Davis Hwy 118 to town
This is our drive to Fort Davis to visit our son - what a lovely area. A beauty that is very unique, almost desolate but not quite. Rather reminded me of visiting Fallon, Nevada. It was our first time to that area and we hope to go back in different weather to see what the difference would be. We enjoyed the cold weather a great deal and stayed at the Indian Lodge at Fort Davis National Park. Good deal but the bed hurt our backs (too soft) and there's ZERO wifi in the rooms. There is an on-site restaurant and some of the time, you can find a cell signal if you need it. Going down into town solves the technology issue easily. This is the Black Bear Restaurant on-site. Flowers are blooming and people are friendly. Our favorite place to stay - Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites on Cypress Way.

Lake Louisa, Clermont (FL)

Lake Louisa late in the day
This is the beautiful Lake Louisa in Clermont, Florida. There's a state park entrance so look for that - there's a fee but I think it's lovely and worth a visit if you are there.

If You Love Pines

Love the trees along the hwy ...like I love pines, then you would love the drive along IH-10 from Texas to Florida. Especially the stretch from Louisiana through the Florida panhandle - such lovely trees line the highway. I love it and so does Mark. It is so different from driving in Texas, where one can see the horizon. Different kind of beauty I have learned to appreciate.
